Midweek with Max: Live from Permissionless, Powered by Lawn Mowers

TGE ultra soon? No, but soon soon.

Welcome back to Midweek with Max — our tenth month of updates, AMA chaos, and unexpected tech comedy. This week, we ran the show from two coasts and multiple bandwidth conditions, including one where Rick’s audio finally wasn’t the worst (a true milestone). With Phil Gomes reporting in live from Permissionless in Brooklyn and Jeff Garzik speaking on a panel with Stacks, StarConnect, and Core, Hemi made its presence known—literally, on every lanyard and every registration table in the venue.

Engineering Updates

Max covered the week’s engineering highlights, including the activation of Pectra features on Mainnet this Thursday at 10 AM ET. If you’re running a full node, update your local containers to stay in sync. We’re also putting final polish on the BIPVM white paper and advancing internal work on the daemon refactor for BFG and PoPminer. Some big things are brewing behind the scenes—more on that soon.

Hemi Hatchlings Go Mainnet

The snapshot for Hemi Hatchlings hits Wednesday at 10 AM ET. Any testnet NFTs in EOAs at the time of the snapshot will be reissued on mainnet. If your hatchling is in a smart contract, pull it out and move it to an EOA before the snapshot. After the migration, the testnet NFTs won’t disappear, but they’ll effectively be deprecated.

TGE Questions (Again)

Yes, TGE is still “very soon,” but not yet “ultra soon.” We’re closing in on a final date and expect to share more by the end of the month or early July. And no, World War III will not affect the timeline—thanks, Miracle, for keeping it light.

Points, LPs, and Absence

Questions about LP and staking points not showing up? The TL;DR: on-chain is king. Absent may occasionally drop or lag in reflecting points, especially with newly created Sushi V3 pools, but everything is still being tracked. You will be credited. As for pop point economics—yes, you could try dividing total BTC spent by points earned, but it’s not very useful. Too many variables, too much speculation.

Tokenomics & Engineering AMA

Tokenomics and the updated pop point payout algorithm are both in the pipeline, with updates expected by early July. The next engineering AMA will likely be scheduled after the BIPVM white paper drops, pending vacation schedules.

Discord Roles, Kaito, and Creator Campaigns

New Hemi Discord tags are live, along with creative roles like “Content Creator.” These won’t impact airdrops but come with perks. On the Kaito front, another campaign is coming next week, and we’re working on a more inclusive program with Cookie3 to ensure smaller creators aren’t left behind.

BitVM ZK Teaser

Max dropped a teaser for the upcoming white paper on Hemi’s approach to BitVM and ZK proofs. One of the key innovations: self-contained ZK proofs of Bitcoin state, without relying on external superblock validation games. Ethereum helps us reflect Bitcoin state in a verifiable way, giving us clean introspection where Bitcoin alone falls short. More to come when the paper lands.

Technical Difficulties and Ceremonial Delays

Right as we queued up the Hemi Alliance promotion ceremony, Rick’s power went out—possibly lawnmower related, definitely comedic. We’ll reschedule that for later this week.

Thanks to everyone who joined. See you next Tuesday—barring any additional power outages or spontaneous harmonica solos.
