Midweek With Max: November 5, 2024

Max Sanchez talks about the road to Mainnet.

Hemi’s latest Midweek With Max offered a deep dive into recent pointstones, Testnet performance, and what’s coming up as the team gears up for Mainnet. From developments at the Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai to partnership expansions and technical updates a lot happened in the Hemi ecosystem.

1. Partnership Announcements & Community Engagement:

Phil Gomes kicked things off with updates on partnerships, including BitPerp and Avalon. More collaborations are set to be announced soon, reflecting the increased momentum in Hemi’s business development.

The team returned from Dubai’s Binance Blockchain Week, where co-founder Jeff Garzik spoke on extending Bitcoin’s technology. In addition, look out for Jeff’s latest interviews on the Cryptonews Podcast, now split into two parts due to the in-depth nature of the conversation. Jeff also joined the Bad Crypto Podcast.

2. Technical Update: Testnet, Faucet & Node Runner Rewards

The team addressed questions around running Hemi nodes and how PoP miners will be rewarded. PoP miners will receive credit through a point system visible on the dashboard soon, though incentives for running full Hemi nodes remain limited for now.

The faucet and node uptime were discussed in-depth. Engineering is exploring solutions to streamline faucet operations and ensure reliable participation. Anti-sybil mechanisms and additional support for community members are on the way, alongside incentives for engaged users who face challenges with the faucet.

3. Roadmap, Mainnet, and Token Generation Event (TGE):

Hemi’s roadmap and timeline for the Mainnet launch are planned for Q4. The exact date depends on partnership onboarding, infrastructure readiness, and security audits. The TGE, expected shortly after the Mainnet launch, will allow developers and community members to plan their involvement in the Hemi ecosystem effectively.

4. Performance Scaling and L3 for Optimized Fees:

The AMA highlighted Hemi’s scaling solution with Layer 3 (L3) support to handle transaction volume and optimize fees. This allows the network to maintain decentralization while giving projects the flexibility to build custom networks within the Hemi L2 framework.

5. Community Support & Coding Challenges:

To boost developer engagement, Hemi will launch several grant programs inspired by successful models like RetroPGF. These programs reward developers retroactively for projects that gain traction or fulfill specific pointstones. Additionally, Hemi has an ongoing coding challenge running until November 11th, inviting developers to showcase their skills and win rewards.
