Hello, Hemigos! Today marks the launch of Hemi’s mainnet and a new way to connect Bitcoin and Ethereum.

What makes Hemi different is its approach to viewing Bitcoin and Ethereum as parts of a unified network rather than separate systems. At its core, Hemi combines Bitcoin's security with Ethereum's programmability through its innovative Hemi Bitcoin EVM (hVM).

The key features include:

  • Full Bitcoin security through Proof-of-Proof mining, providing Superfinality in 90 minutes

  • Direct Bitcoin state awareness inside the EVM, enabling new Bitcoin DeFi applications

  • Decentralized tunneling (bridging) between Bitcoin and Ethereum

  • Gas cost efficiency through transaction batching and shared security

For developers, Hemi makes it simple to build applications that work seamlessly across both networks. The Hemi Bitcoin Kit (hBK) provides tools to interact with Bitcoin state directly from smart contracts.

Hemi also introduces Tunnels - a secure way to move assets between Bitcoin and Ethereum. The system uses advanced vaulting mechanisms to ensure safety while maintaining efficiency.

The platform launches with core applications for lending, trading, and asset management. As adoption grows, we expect to see new types of applications that leverage Hemi's advanced Bitcoin+Ethereum interoperability.
